My name is David W. Spradlin. I was in Company G, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 17th Infantry Division, somewhere in Korea, from late Dec 52 to Jul 53. During that time we were on the MLR and doing a lot of patrols at night. One night the company commander asked for volunteers to go on patrol behind enemy lines and anyone that did would be given a bronze star. I went, but never got anything. We were on outpost Yoke and Uncle for a while. Then moved to hill 347. That's when the gooks attacked Pork Chop Hill. We were immediately moved to the rear and loaded onto personnel carriers and taken to Pork Chop. I think we had 110 personnel when we went up, and 10 walking when we came back. I probably don;t know anyone out there because there wasn't many of us left, and we didn't usually make friends, because they didn't last long. I went into the unit as a Corporal and made Sergeant later. I never will forget, I got on the boat the day the conflict ended - Jul 28, 53.
I have lived to the ripe old age of 77 and never a day goes by that I don't think about that time in my life.
Oh, the day I left I took the company flag with me - I still have it with the buffalo emblems pinned on it.07-03-2008
My Dad, Edward U. Pratt, RA12369137 was in the 17th Infantry Reg/7th Infantry Div. He passed away on 10 May 75. If anyone remembers him, please contact me. SMSgt John Prat US Air Force

Good to see the unit is still active. My GGGGGrandfather died at Fort Meigs serving in the 17th Infantry/Captain Holt's Detachment, 25 July.
Just wanted to know if their was ever a permanent memorial for CPT Tindal (spelling ?) and the other light fighters from B co 3/17 who died in Panama, operation PROMOTE LIBERTY, in a two seperate helicopter crashes.
I am searching for any resources/information pertaining to the 17th's involvement in the Indian Wars, North Dakota 1872. Or, any information pertaining to Co. "E", 17th Infantry, from 1869-1872 (histories, rosters, etc). My g-g-grandfather, William H. Manley served in this company during this time. Just trying to learn more about what the unit was up to then. Thank you for your time and assistance.
Just wanted you all to know that I was very surprized at the quality of two challenge coins I ordered, the "17th Infantry Regiment Assn Challenge Coin" were the best looking challenge coin I have ever seen, and it stays with me in my pocket everywhere I go.
